Your question.
What is the osmolality of Viyo Recuperation?
The osmolality of a solution refers to the concentration of osmotically active particles in that solution. When considering the physiology of body fluids, the difference between osmolality and osmolarity is negligible because body fluids typically are dilute aqueous solutions. In clinical medicine, the term osmolality is used.
The normal plasma osmolality of dogs and cats is slightly higher than in humans and ranges from 290-310 mOsm/kg in dogs and from 290-330 mOsm/kg in cats. We can say that the osmolality determines how fast the liquid passes the stomach and is absorbed in the intestines.
The measured osmolalities for Viyo Recuperation are:
Viyo Recuperation Dog: 302 mOsmol/kg;
Viyo Recuperation Cat: 207 mOsmol/kg.
Both are near the concentration of body fluids and are therefore ready for immediate absorption with minimal chance for gastric discomfort.
